Good SEO Versus Bad SEO • White Hats & Black Hats

More people are using the internet to develop businesses. By using the internet you can create and allow people to know about the things you have to offer. But in order to run a business successfully you will need to increase traffic to your website. This is where search engine optimization comes into play.

Search engine optimization, also known as SEO, is the technical side of marketing on the World Wide Web. It is a tool used to allow your website to rank higher on the search engines. It helps in the promotion of your website as well as increased traffic. To have your website become successful it is very important for you to deviate from the basics that get you good website ranking.

The Good

Although the whole process can be somewhat complex, the progress can also be rather slow. At times it can take up to one year to get steady rankings from the search engines. Adhering to the practices and rules of the industry is essential. Good SEO is not cheating the system or manipulating search engine results. It should enhance a visitor’s experience with a website rather than hinder it. The main goal of SEO is to make the website meet the objectives of the site itself and that the visitors may find what they are looking for.

The Bad

We have quite a few practices that should not be used when optimizing a website for search engine ranking mainly for ethical reasons. Violating the guidelines of SEO by the use of hidden text, link spamming, or link farming are a definite issue as well as keyword stuffing, usage of duplicate content and RSS overdoing. The fact is that it is misleading to the visitors of the site and the web as a whole.

It is important to note that websites that have used bad SEO tactics to gain ranking in the search engine market can be penalized, causing irreparable damage to the image of the website.
