The Right Time to Redesign
HAS IT BEEN A WHILE?
If you are thinking of a re-design just for the sake of it, it probably isn't the right time to re-design your site. A website design serves a specific purpose. If an overhaul to your website is something you are unsure about, keep in mind that the design of the site does serve a purpose.
In retrospect, if you have had the same website since the mid 90's, perhaps it is time for a re-design. Having an old fashioned design can turn the end user away, as the content is old and not up to date. If this is the case, here are some good points to ponder before doing a re-design.
Try keeping your website with the same theme. Upgrade your logo to current design practices. If you have regular visitors to your site, remember they may not recognize the new design at first glance. Be certain to retain similar characteristics of the original website.
If you are still unsure if it is time to re-design, or you feel you need more information, try adding a poll on your website to allow your visitors to decide.
WEB DEVELOPER - MANAGING DIRECTOR
Jon is a website designer in Flagstaff Arizona. He started with web design at the age of 17 where he created "Only the Best Apps" - a website where he would test and choose "Only the Best" software from around the internet. It was all hand coded with Homesite - at that time the best (in his humble opinion) HTML editor around. He believes in local economy, open source technology, and helps bring the best the internet has to offer.
